FOLLOW THE RIVER

An Epic Journey of Survival and Dark Myths

FOLLOW THE RIVER is an epic tale filled with horror, intrigue, and the roots of what we would think are myths. Although, to those living in the untamed lands of the ice age, they were all too real. Death awaited around every corner, whether by man, beast, or those in-between.

25,000 years ago, one man, Ivo, set out to lead his family and tribe down from the frozen lands by the ice wall in the north. Their destination is the fertile grasslands of the south by way of the river. Along the journey, it is not only the megalithic animals that are hunting them. The dark and demonic creatures from their campfire stories could be waiting for them around the river’s next bend.

Those they encounter along the way have their own traditions of creatures or beings that can do the unbelievable. When Ivo and his family are suspected of being in league with those that practice dark magic, he must turn to a species that is most feared for help.

The pain and anguish of the journey are nothing compared to what is waiting for Ivo, should he be able to make it to the grasslands of the south.

This Story is the Amalgamation of the Myths and Theories about the past that have Always Captivated Me

This was the fastest I’ve ever written a book from start to finish. This truly felt as if it wrote itself. I give credit to this effortless flow of words to my love of learning about the traditions and oral history of the Native Americans, and other indigenous tribes around the world.

When watching a children’s movie with my kids that was set in caveman times, it dawned on me that there is more to our shared ancient history. I wanted to write a novel based around the idea of the legends of magic, creatures, ‘wisemen coming from the sea,’ and giants. Once I had the concept in my head, the story came together like none other.

I stripped away the ‘neat,’ and ‘polished’ parts of the myths and made them raw, rough, and horrifying. As one does not have an oral tradition about the horrors of the forest that survives for thousands of years without some terrifying truth at the center of it.

A Combination of Interests in One – Something for Everyone

Anyone interested in the ancient past, legends, myths, or oral traditions will find this book fascinating. Seeing as the world 25,000 years ago was violent, unpredictable, and dangerous, this is a perfect read for any horror or thriller novel lover.

This intense epic journey will have any fantasy or magic lover glued to the pages. Additionally, I have woven in deep and heart pound suspense, for those that need to have their blood pumping when they sit down to read a story.

What’s Next For This Novel

After I published FOLLOW THE RIVER my next work was not as forthcoming as they usually are. I tend to have my next novel already in my mind as I finish the current one. As this one was a fast, personal, and intense work, which poured out from my mind. Taking, in part, the brainpower I would have had for my next book.

However, I continue to market this one, and by the time of this article’s release on Authors’ Lounge, my next work will be in the works. It will most certainly hold a dark, horrific, and suspenseful tone, as this one does.

Does This Novel Fit in With My Others?

Most of my works are dark westerns, which include elements of horror, paranormal interactions, and suspense. I have other novels and short stories that fall outside of this genre. Nonetheless, this is where I find my writing and stories come to life like no other. This is in part to having an overactive mind as a child. Which was beaten into suppression in a strict Catholic upbringing and hardened by the harsh realities of serving in the Infantry and later as a boxer.

Though, through the ups and downs of life. I would not be able to put forth these kinds of stories without the love and support of a wonderful family I have at home.
