Ember of Light

Ember of Light

My debut novel, Ember of Light, is a paranormal romantasy that delves into a world where the balance between light and dark is on the brink of collapse.

Set in a small, eerie town off the coast of Maine, the story unravels through the eyes of Charlotte, a young woman unaware of the extraordinary power she holds. As bodies start to appear and a mysterious disappearance rocks the town, Charlotte finds herself thrust into the heart of a centuries-old conflict. She is the last of her kind, a void soul, born from two powerful and opposing bloodlines—Sol and Ember. This rare lineage grants her immense power, but also makes her the target of dark forces that seek to exploit her abilities in a ritual known as “The Eclipse of Shadows” to release Disias, the God of Shadows, who was imprisoned long ago to maintain the balance of good and evil.

The inspiration for Ember of Light came from my long-standing love for supernatural stories and the profound themes they often explore, such as the eternal struggle between good and evil, identity, and the power of choice. Watching shows like Supernatural during difficult times helped me cope, and their complex characters and rich narratives inspired me to create a world of my own.

I wanted to explore the concept of balance and what happens when that balance is threatened, both on a grand scale and within an individual. Charlotte’s journey is a reflection of the internal battles we all face—the pull between light and dark within ourselves and the choices we make that define who we become.

My target audience for Ember of Light includes readers who are drawn to the paranormal and fantasy genres, particularly those who enjoy stories with a strong romantic element. Fans of complex, morally gray characters, intricate world-building, and narratives that blend mystery, action, and emotional depth will find a lot to enjoy in this book. It’s also suited for readers who appreciate darker themes and are interested in stories that tackle issues of mental health, trauma, and resilience.

I hope that readers take away a sense of connection with the characters, especially with Charlotte as she navigates her complicated world. I want them to feel the tension between light and dark, not just in the external world but within themselves.

I hope the story encourages readers to reflect on their own choices and the power they hold in shaping their destinies, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the future of Ember of Light and the world I’ve created. The sequel is already in the works, and it will delve deeper into the mythology, introducing new characters, expanding on the lore, and exploring even more of the supernatural elements that define this universe.

I’m also planning to engage more with the writing community, including platforms like Authors Lounge, where I can connect with other authors and readers who share a passion for storytelling. On a more personal note, I’m an indie author with a deep love for the written word and a particular fascination with the supernatural and fantastical.

Writing has always been my escape and my way of processing the world around me. When I’m not writing, I’m usually spending time with my fiancé, Joe, who is both a firefighter and plumber. We met at the gym in 2019, and our relationship has been a constant source of inspiration and support. We got engaged in Havana, Cuba, in March 2023, a trip that holds a special place in my heart. My writing is a reflection of my experiences, passions, and the things that have shaped me, and I’m thrilled to share it with others.
