History of the Book
Hello. Thank you for reading this far. This book has a lot of history, but it all comes down to a challenge presented to me in 2017. This book began when I was 16, twenty years before this iteration began. I had the idea for dragons who could transform into humans and control the elements. Originally it did not include some of the abilities I’ve included in the final story. I was into Avatar The Last Airbender and fascinated by the idea of controlling those elements. Essentially Kail is Aang in terms of how special he is and what he can do. After the challenge was issued I added two additional elements, the ability to infiltrate a person’s mind (Silver Dragons) and the ability to physically control people (Black Dragons).
There were many starts and stops when it came to the story. Originally it was a love story between a character named Kail Claskan, King of all. I wrote about twenty 8.5 x 11 pages, then decided it wasn’t right. The next year I tried again, and every year after until I was about 30. At that point, I thought about the story but left it in the past. I became a Game Designer…in spirit. I completed my bachelor’s degree in game design and started working on games that I was going to release independently. I’d get about halfway through and give up.
2017 I was in a relationship and my eldest child and girlfriend ganged up on me and told me I never complete anything. This was after giving up on the last game I tried to build and let’s face facts…I had an issue completing things. I also have an issue, even to this day, being told I can’t/don’t do something. I have to prove that person wrong. It’s plain and simple who I am. Don’t say something like that and expect me to just agree and not do something about it. So tell me I can’t be a millionaire and I’ll try to prove you wrong…however, I tried that one already and…well…I’m not exactly flush with cash.
The Future
Dawn of Prophecy was an explosive in my mind. Once I finished it, edited it (terribly), and published it (then again with my publisher and again after re-editing), it was like a dam was taken down and all of these ideas flowed through me. All of that is to say I have a lot coming. Currently, my publisher has the sequel to Dawn of Prophecy called Herald of Heresy in their publishing process. We’re really just waiting for the book cover to be created by their artists.
My second published book, The Hybrids, was released in July this year and is a spin-off of the Dragonkind series! I have completed a total of 5 books, including those, that are in various stages of the process. The plan is the third book in the Dragonkind series Scholar of Duplicity will be released and the second spin-off of the Dragonkind series Savior Time Detective will also be released. I’ve started working on Dragonkind book 4, currently titled The Wolf’s Dragon, The second book in the Savior series, and a new book that is a one-off currently titled Ghostly Matters. I have a lot to offer the world, if only for entertainment purposes. Hopefully, you’ll give these books a chance and I look forward to serving for the foreseeable future.
