The recently concluded virtual book fair, The Festival of Storytellers, was a success. During the six-day book event, we discovered so many things from authors, keynote speakers, and of course, the fairgoers. We also encountered many interesting titles ranging from sci-fi, action thrillers, poetry, romance, mystery, and non-fiction. In spiritual and Christian works of literature, many newly published books have also caught our interest. One of them is a unique Christian book that features pictures for coloring and inspirational words. The book displays various beautiful flowers, and they’re impossible to ignore. Botanical Reflections: Capture Your Days in Words and Pictures
Botanical Reflections by Doris Lance is an inspirational Christian book. It was published just two years ago, in March 2019. It is also a picture book that features wonderful flowers that young children can color together. Doris Lance’s book contains 54 pages, measures 8.5 x 0.15 x 8.5 inches, and weighs 5.3 ounces, which is pretty light and portable.
As an avid hiker and wildflower photographer, Doris has seen nature’s wonders and majestic beauty. Throughout her numerous trek and nature walks, she has discovered multiple unique floras that many of us can only dream of. Through these encounters, Doris chose to incorporate flowers in her inspiring spiritual book entitled Botanical Reflections. The pages of the book are filled with intricate and detailed drawings of various flowers. Many of these flowers are rare and can only be seen in remote locations, perhaps in high mountains and dense forests. Readers are in a treat for discovering a new and impressive collection of flora.

Botanical Reflections is not your ordinary inspirational Christian book. It is also a coloring book that can also serve as a journal. Doris Lance has produced a creative way to inspire readers to listen to God’s word and express themselves. The book is divided into two parts. Every left page contains a question, a blank space for you to answer, and at the bottom of the page is an excerpt or a quote from the Bible. For example, page 1 contains the question, “What do you wish you had more time to do?”, then space is allocated for your answer, and below it is a line from the Proverbs 27:19 NIV, “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” Then at the right side of the page is a line illustration of a beautifully drawn flower.
Overall, Doris Lance’s Botanical Reflections is a delightful book that is certainly worth checking out today.

Doris “avidhiker2” Lance is a hiker and a wildflower photographer. Since starting her passion for long walks, Doris Lance has logged thousands of miles. She has also trekked from below sea level in Death Valley to over 11,000 feet in Patagonia, Chile, to capture majestic flowering treasures in their natural environment. Dorris is currently an instructor at Cuesta College’s Emeritus Program in California. Recently, she participated in ReadersMagnet’s first-ever virtual book fair, The Festival of Storytellers. The show, which ran from April 23-25 and April 30-May 02, 2021, featured Doris Lance in one of its Author of the Hour sessions.
