When Alzheimer’s began to challenge the couple’s life together, the husband explains how it has been solely God’s grace that has carried them through.

Defining The “A” Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder that slowly ruins memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. People with Alzheimer’s disease may hear or see things that have no basis in reality due to complex changes occurring in the brain. Hallucinations, delusion, and paranoia are the expected behaviors that people with the “A” disease experience.

There is no cure for the “A” disease. In recent years, there has been significant progress in testing and developing new treatments. Many medicines have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat people with Alzheimer’s.

A True-to-Life Experience

Going…Going…The Abduction of a Mind by Jack Weaver is a true-to-life story of a husband and his wife with dementia. To observe a life of purpose, meaning, and beauty that fades daily from entire, highly-quality life to a life of limited activities is challenging beyond words. If you happen to have a similar situation or know someone who has a loved one suffering from the increasing challenges of Alzheimer’s, then this book is a must-read for you. It will help you face the days ahead.

Jack thoughtfully ascribed in his book how life was meaningful and purposeful for his wife, Janey, and him. Jack conveyed in his book that understanding and dealing with the fading away of a loved one’s mind calls for true love. Their unconditional love will never go away, just as they promised each other at the altar fifty years ago.

The book Going…Going…The Abduction of a Mind will challenge its readers and give them encouragement and insight into how to look at life in its different stages and challenges through the Scriptures. This is a nonfiction book about life journey remembrances from the heart and life of a man who truly loves God and his wife.

On the other hand, the book is divided into two parts, before and after. The first several chapters share the couple’s lives before the diagnosis of Jack’s wife. This was done so that readers could see the picture of Janey’s fullness of life before Alzheimer’s. The rest of the book is the after – how they cope, their lives, love, and lies.

Jack and Janey will be your pilot throughout the book. Their story will bring readers to many locations, such as sunny valleys of hope, swamps of despair, mountains of happiness, and vistas of relief and grief. A story that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. A tale of profoundness and all-out honesty. A real-life story of happiness, hope, and sadness. A heartwarming tale of all time.

Author’s Corner

Before retiring, Jack Weaver worked for forty-three years as a chiropractor. He married his high school sweetheart, Janey Weaver, and they have been husband and wife for forty-three years. Each anniversary since, they have reaffirmed that commitment at the celebration of one more year of building their love and dedication to each other with hope and anticipation. Their promise of love is one of the great things they hold on to. They both did not believe in divorce.

Together, the couple has five children and a total of eight grandchildren. Jack spends time working with his bare hands, having a good laugh, and enjoying God’s creations. He pursued these pleasures as hobbies such as fly tying, photography, woodworking, leather crafting, and writing.

With his fondness for writing and a push from his wife, Jack was able to publish his very first book, Going… Going…: The Abduction of Mind.
