Thank you, Authors’ Lounge, for giving me this opportunity. I really appreciate it.
I’m a South Sudanese native who spent over two years living as a refugee in Cairo, Egypt, before immigrating in 2004 to the United States, where I pursued my education and worked for the criminal justice system. Currently, I live with my wife and children in Salt Lake City, where I’m painting my second masterpiece.
I have published my new book “The Ambitious Pyramid of Kush”: a gripping story inspired by my own experience as a refugee in Egypt and America. It is a riveting story of perseverance in the face of daunting challenges for a young Sudanese refugee.
My recent release is a spellbinding tale introducing Tokia Kaunda, who flees his native Sudan after surviving torture in the notorious Ghost Houses, struggles on the daunting streets of Cairo, and finally reaches the United States, where he must overcome tragedy and persecution to achieve his own American dream.
Tokia was a student in Sudan when he’s arrested and brutally tortured. He escapes to Egypt but finds life as a Sudanese refugee comes with new challenges. Violence and racism are a daily occurrence while black market doctors lurk in every dark corner.
He thinks his trouble have ended when he arrives in the United States, but he finds devastating new challenges. He faces language and cultural barriers, the woman he loves goes missing, and false accusations of rape send him to prison.
Despite all that, Tokia always strives to reach his goal of becoming a prosecutor who brings war criminals to justice.
My engrossing book is a superb choice for avid dramatic fiction readers. My hope is that readers recognize that there’s always hope to achieve their goals. It takes determination, strength, and courage to overcome every challenge.
Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase my book at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
