A Heartfelt Journey of Healing and Transformation
Have you ever felt a deep, inexplicable connection to a story, as if it were your own? Pain, Pumpernickel & Profound Forgiveness: A Daughter’s Story of Her Punishing & Loving Relationship with Her Father is a raw and honest exploration of the complex bond between a daughter and her father.
A Journey of Love, Forgiveness, and Divine Interventions
This intimate journey explores the tumultuous ups and downs of our relationship, from pain and fear to love and forgiveness. As I poured my heart onto the page, I realized the transformative power of sharing my story. It was only when it was complete that the changes and miracles revealed themselves, except for the DI’s (Divine Intervention). I won’t ruin the book if you haven’t read it, but suffice to say they’re sprinkled throughout. Truth be told I couldn’t make up a good story that went anywhere the DIs took us. And they were witnessed by others – so I’m not making it up.
Embracing Possibility to Witness Miracles
If I were asked and often am, how do these happen? I strongly believe they happen when you live in the space of possibility where anything can happen. If you have a closed mind or don’t believe in miracles they won’t happen. I stayed open to receive by holding the thought of possibility. I didn’t have the answer, yet sometimes an even greater experience happened. Finding words for them isn’t easy, but when they appear, it’s clear that something beyond me is in charge.
A Story That Resonates, Inspires, and Heals
I’m humbled by the incredible response from readers, who’ve shared how the book resonates with their own experiences. Whether understanding an absentee parent’s impact or breaking generational patterns, my book motivates, inspires, and heals.

I just finished this memoir, a beautifully woven tapestry of memories and emotions, is a touching book that resonates deeply with my own experiences. As someone whose father is currently battling cancer, this book felt like a gentle hand guiding me through a labyrinth of past and present emotions.
What struck me immediately was Roseanne’s heartfelt and honest portrayal of her tumultuous relationship with her father. Her journey towards healing and finding peace with her past echoes the struggles and triumphs many of us face in our relationships.
This book has been an eye-opener in many ways, teaching me the importance of compassion, especially towards my father in these trying times. The theme of divine intervention in even the smallest aspects of life is a powerful reminder of the beauty and mystery that surrounds us. Roseanne’s ability to find and celebrate these moments, even amidst hardship, is both inspiring and grounding.
As I turned the pages, I found myself reflecting on my childhood, and understanding my relationships with family and friends in a new light. The author’s experiences and insights helped me view my own life story with more open-heartedness and less judgment. The way she navigates her complex emotions and ultimately finds a sense of peace is something I aspire to in my own life. Beautifully written.

This is an inspiring and touching story told in such a conversational, lovely way. You will read through to the end without wanting to stop. I was, too, raised to keep my feelings and thoughts to myself and spent much of
my adult life searching for a way to forgive my father and my paternal grandfather. This book is about beauty brought out of pain and inspires truth, understanding, and forgiveness.

Pain, Pumpernickel & Profound Forgiveness: A Daughter’s Story of Her Punishing & Loving Relationship with Her Father, by Rosanne D’Ausilio, is a heartfelt and engaging memoir that explores the relationships between a daughter and her father. Rosanne has a stormy relationship with her father throughout her childhood and yet as an adult comes to the realization that she wasn’t to blame for situations; it was her father’s reactions to them. D’Ausilio takes you back in time through specific moments in her life that made an impact, sometimes positive and more often negative. Yet through it all, she gains tranquility and healing of her inner self. Rosanne reminded me of my childhood moments that were similar to hers such as; when we were always told we were to clean our plates that children were starving in other countries, not to cry over spilled milk, save money, and be frugal, etc.
I always thought as a child why should I have to eat all of the food on my plate when I didn’t dish it up? One of my favorite parts in D’Ausilio’s memoir was when she stated she liked chess because it had rules and no mixed messages, unlike the words of her father. An especially poignant title that resonated with me that Rosanne wrote in one of her reflections was, “Hung for a Lion When I was a Lamb.” Rosanne includes a bonus at the end of her book; thirteen ways to heal to assist others that may go through what she has. I recommend her book to others who have had rocky relationships with their family members.
Finding Clarity and Healing Through Memoir Writing
Writing this memoir was a cathartic experience. It allowed me to revisit the past with a new perspective, appreciating the moments of love and understanding amidst the challenges of mixed messages, limited belief systems, and old rules. The feedback I received on early drafts encouraged me to keep writing, to delve deeper into my own story, and to share it with the world.
Rebuilding Memories Through Writing
The back story contributed to the current story. I had a manila folder into which I put notes or vignettes I wanted to remember about my father. This was maybe 20+ years ago. Well, I lost the folder and the stories were no longer on my computer. So the thought was maybe by writing them I’d create memories.
A Lost Treasure Rediscovered
When we moved from New York to the DC area I was cleaning out my office. On top of my filing cabinet were several training manuals the ones with a plastic front that you could slide a title page. Between the two of them was the manila folder. I stopped, raised my arms up to the sky, and said, “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.”
A Memoir Born of Rediscovery and Spiritual Growth
With haste, I typed them into the computer and also put them on a thumb drive. And I’m clear it would not be the book it is today had it been published back then. My spiritual side was nonexistent back then and the DI’s wouldn’t have broken through to me. While I’ve authored numerous business books, having been a customer service expert, this personal memoir holds a special place in my heart. It’s a reflection of my soul, a testament to the power of human connection, and a beacon of hope for anyone seeking healing and forgiveness. Available at Amazon.
Embracing Endless Possibilities for Connection and Growth
As I look to the future, I’m excited to explore new avenues to share my story. I’m currently delving into the world of podcasting, eager to connect with a wider audience and inspire meaningful conversations. It’s being well received with a similar response as the reviews.
I’d love my book to be on the coffee tables in the Author’s Lounge, a testament to the power of love, forgiveness, and the human spirit.
What’s next? The possibilities are endless, and I embrace the unknown with open arms. I’m committed to making a positive impact, whether by returning to corporate life or continuing to write and connect. Why? Because it’s never too late to make peace with your past.
