What is Healing Love About?
The book is the first of a series of Word Vibes- The Record books written as part of the Passion and movement for youth in Jamaica and around the world.Andrew and Donnette and their team’s aim is to inspire a new generation of Christians who would create a counterculture of purity to stand against the lawless and rampant oversexualizing in popular culture.
One of their objectives of this book is to help young, Christian women establish and embrace godly values regarding marriage, sexuality, and modesty. Healing Love was written in collaboration with several other Christian writers, theologians, and health experts.
Inside this book, readers will find several testimonies from those who survived a lifestyle of lawlessness sexual promiscuity, abuse and other vices. Their message is that of hope and transformation, giving readers first-person accounts of how faith can redeem even those who were neck-deep in self-destructive habits.
What Readers Can Expect from the Book
The book offers a fascinating example of literature produced directly as a result of Christian mission outreach. The book is written with its target audience in mind, and the testimonies are varied in their accounts of the many vices afflicting present-day Jamaica.
It then supplements these testimonies with information on passion, sexual purity and issues and answers that provide practical answers or guides to the problem so many person face daily in life .The guides also elaborate their case with appropriate citations from Scripture, and dispel myths about sexuality that are often broadcasted by secular media.
The insights shared by the book’s other collaborators are also helpful, shedding more light into the Normans’ own network of ministers and through leaders who passionately advocate a conversion of a sinful culture. Each of their contributions includes research into the harmful effects of premarital sex, drug addiction, prostitution, and more.
The book can serve as both an excellent resource material for Christian readers who are faced with similar challenges. The book even has an impressive number of activities, questionnaires, songs, issues and answers for that can be used for Bible study, group activities and worship services.
Is Healing Love Worth Reading?
Much of the book’s content can be very helpful for readers who are looking for lifestyle guides devoted to Christian values of modesty and putting sexuality in the proper context of God’s plan.
Many of the ideas being shared by its authors affirm teachings regarding the harmfulness of sexual sin, how much of it can be the result of abuse in childhood, and what harm it also does to a wider society.
One of its recurring themes can also prove effective for those who want to break their sexual habits for the sake of living true to their faith. The word ‘passion’ in the book is often presented as a means to direct one’s mind towards their God-given talents and pursue more meaningful goals in life.
Another positive message in the book is its advocacy of sexual boundaries and self-respect by aligning them with Scripture. This makes it helpful for religious readers who want to campaign against sexual abuse on Biblical grounds.
