Book Feature: Beyond Pipe Dreams And Platitudes by Dr. Geraldine K. Piorkowski

Beyond Pipe Dreams And Platitudes is an eye-opening essay collection from Dr. Geraldine K. Piorkowski.

There is undeniable power in passing along the thoughts to another, in learning and discussing how or if they reflect your own views, and how you can then challenge them. We need anthologies today more than ever. They are especially needed to combat the rising tide of ignorance and naivety that are rampant in this time and age. Essays offer the readers a chance to understand and interact with a range of discussions and viewpoints that reveals the depths of a singular theme. With that said, ReadersMagnet features a must-read essay collection from the brilliant psychologist, Dr. Geraldine K. Piorkowski.

A slim yet thought-provoking collection from the minds of an experienced psychologist.

From the mind of a long-time psychologist, Beyond Pipe Dreams And Platitudes by Dr. Piorkowski is a thoughtful, broadly accessible reflection on assumptions many of us live with that may narrow rather enrich our lives. In this collection, she shares what she learned from people she worked with who came from different backgrounds and walks of life. Besides reaffirming that all people are fundamentally the same, she also found out countless information which led her to write this anthology. Fifty years of service allowed her to reflect and discover on concepts which she now warmly shares to the general public.

Within this slim yet deeply moving collections features eight essays on various topics on positive thinking, madness vs. sadness, and luck and chance—all of which provide a new understanding of psychological health and well-being. By exploring the lives of her clients, she finds connections in the most intimate ways, and finally discover a kinship with the world and people around.

Moreover, most portion of her book seeks to debunk common concepts in order to provide a concrete explanation of a certain phenomenon which is a much needed mental nourishment. This precious anthology truly deserves a spot in your bookshelf.

Another reason to read the book is for the author’s tone: her soothing and expository style, her ability to weave together a detached and usually severe critical judgment with a tone of ruminative engagement. That’s a tone which seems to be particularly enviable for a collection.

The author offers an unflinchingly candid and achingly honest finding that is remarkably profound. Dr. Geraldine’s essays aren’t just for academic and high-brow readers but for the everyday reader. Her reader-friendly writing style offers simplistic sentimentality. If you enjoy literature and love knowledge, you will love this collection. A timeless wisdom for all ages!

All in all, this brilliant and iconic first collection by the indomitable Dr. Geraldine K. Piorkowski earned her a rightful place as one of the modern masters of this form. Dazzlingly heady and deeply moving— a rumination on her literary career and artistic mission, which is to reveal and honor the life we have today. Read this book today and discover how the author turn her discerning eye on everything.
