Why it’s important for kids to have books…
There are many reasons why it is important for kids to have books, I know that I always had books to read when I was a kid and would go to the library with my Mom to check out books, this was something that I enjoyed, it gave me the opportunity to find things to read that I was interested in and it gave me the freedom to browse through tons of options and helped me be independent in making my own decision on which ones to check out, there were limitations on how many I could check out at one time so I would have to pick my favorites from a big stack that I would collect while perusing the many isles of books. I’m kind of indecisive, when making a decision it’s not usually easy so maybe this was a good way to help me work on that as well.
The importance of having books definitely encourages reading and practicing reading skills.
It is exciting for kids to have books, they can find characters and stories that they relate to, it encourages them to use their imagination, it is something that helps them learn about different things. Reading can be a great way for parents to spend time with their kids and bond, it also helps parents learn more about what their children are interested in. Books can be a good way to get kids to go to bed or put them to sleep. It is important to have a wide variety of books because there is so much to learn from different types of books. Some books can be tools for learning and others just for enjoyment. Encouraging kids to read is important especially with all of the technology and distractions of today where kids spend hours staring at a screen when they could be stimulating their minds with a book and gathering more useful information. Sometimes getting wrapped up in a good book can be a great escape from reality and the negative things that are going on in life.
I really feel like books can inspire people and kids to do amazing things.
I am an author and illustrator of two children’s books and my main goal is to help inspire kids in a fun and exciting way and give them something that they can relate to. Hopefully my books will reach kids and share positive messages as well as spark their interest for reading and trying new things. The main message I share in my books is “Believe in yourself and follow your dreams” because we can all do amazing things, it just takes time, practice, dedication and hard work but we can accomplish goals when we set our mind to it. This is something that I believe is important to share with kids.
I realize that their are a lot of kids that don’t even have one book to read, this is very sad to think about because all kids deserve to have books to read and enjoy and benefit from, this is part of the reason why I have donated over 400 copies of my first two books to kids in need and will be donating 400 copies of my upcoming children’s book “Super Dragon Skater Boy” I am currently raising money to help with publishing costs in order to accomplish this goal. Books are so very important and have made a tremendous impact on my life, I can’t imagine a world without books.
I never imagined that I would write and illustrate two children’s books, but here I am working on my third and hopefully more to follow, if I can do this then anyone who wants to is capable as well. Whether it’s writing a book or accomplishing something else, don’t give up on your dreams, you can do more than you even realize. Find what you are passionate about, what makes you feel alive and share that with others, it will make life more meaningful. We all have our own gifts and talents.
