TRUTH IS LIGHT By Laprele Jordan

As always, thanks to Reader’s Magnet for the opportunity to express my thoughts and beliefs here in this blog. My life has been quite the journey…..not a very ordinary one to say the least. My book, My Spiritual Journey is all about the different changes that have led me to be where I am now. I’m doing this in hopes of helping those of you who are searching for truth and peace, to find a measure of it through my own experiences.

The last blog I wrote was on truth. I talked about how God can never lie and how Satan can never tell the truth. Can revealing the truth about evil ever be evil? When we think of evil, what comes to mind? Where do evil things take place? Why do men do evil things in secret? Is it because they want to keep others in the dark? Why do we refer the dark side or the light side? What happens when something evil comes to light? It becomes exposed doesn’t it? Why when someone dies, if they are a good person, we say they go to the light? As you’ve probably discovered by now, I’m partial to quoting scripture….that way it comes from God not me. So here is a very good scripture found in Moroni 7: 16-18 (B of M)

“For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge is if of God. But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he persuadeth no man to do good, no not one; neither do his angels; neither do they who subject themselves unto him.

This world now is so far removed from when I was growing up. Things were pretty good until the 1960’s when things really started changing. Back then good was good and bad was bad. Now we’re in an era when evil is good and good is evil. To quote Isaiah 5: 20-25

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight. Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink; which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the street. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his had is stretched out still.

I believe we all would rather be in the light than in the dark. There is a very favorite scripture in John 1 that is so very, important. The book of John is truly a wonderful book. It has more about love and light and how to be close to Christ than any of the other four gospels in my estimation. There is nothing greater than love, and love brings the light. John 1: 1-13

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. The same came for a witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Bus as many as received him, to them he gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name; Which were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Here the LORD is saying that he made the world and came to bring light to the world, but many loved darkness more than the light. Christ came to the earth at a most wicked time in history. The light had gone out of the world. The rulers of the day were not righteous men, but men of tradition, not interested in the well being of their fellow men, but ruling and being in control. Remember, Satan’s main tools are force and control. We must do all we can to keep our freedom. Christ is the author of freedom and light. Another good scripture is John 8: 12-17

“The spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followethme shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I come, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell when I come, and whither I go. Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.”

Jesus is the light. The only way back to our heavenly home brothers and sisters.
