Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe

My name is J.F. Silver, author of a book and series called, Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe. Many thanks to Andrea Richards from Reader’s Magnet for inviting me to introduce myself and tell you about my first book.

Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe is an erotic story about an older couple who have been married for thirty years. It began when I wrote a sexy fantasy to give to my wife as a birthday gift. I had just turned fifty and had started a few writing projects over the years but never completed one. She loved the story and immediately requested another, even offering a new fantasy. For years, these stories were written just for her but something changed around 2012.

An informal reunion with school friends led to the discovery that many of these women were no longer sexually active. At that time, she was reading 50 Shades of Grey, which was at the top of the best seller lists. Since our story was actually written about people over the age of fifty, we decided to try getting it published. It encourages sexual communication and trying new things as we get older, something we believed could help her friends and other couples who had been together for a long time.

I had written twenty-one fantasies over a five year period and had to figure out how to form it into some type of narrative. E-books were just becoming popular and publishers of erotica were popping up everywhere in the wake of Fifty Shades’ success. However, I wasn’t finding many stories that featured older characters, especially those over the age of fifty. In 2013, we found a small publisher who offered us a contract.

Stiff Rain Press took a chance on me and I was introduced to some wonderful editors, cover artists and many great authors. They helped us release our first three books before going out of business in 2015. I signed with another publisher shortly after and released two more Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe titles on their imprint. Today, I have six independently released e-books books available on Amazon and two have been released on Audible.

Blurb for Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe:

Can sex really get better with age? For Joe and Elaine, an average couple married a long time, the answer is definitely yes! After thirty years together they begin experimenting with others and discover a whole new world of pleasure. An unexpected three-way leaves them curious and wanting more. When Elaine suggests a search for playmates, they meet John and his sexy Asian wife, Mika. Sparks ignite from the start for the women and two lucky husbands get to come along for the ride. Things get hotter with each visit and as fantasies are fulfilled, the couples become much more than just friends, proving that age is just a number.

Author bio:

At the age of fifty, J.F. Silver wrote a story as a birthday gift for his wife. She liked it so much that new fantasies were offered, and Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe came to life. A sexy tale featuring characters in their fifties, the series encourages couples to communicate and try new things. He and his wife have been happily married for forty-six years so it obviously works for them.

Today, J.F. enjoys music and playing the drums when he isn’t busy writing. Together, the couple love exploring their home state of Colorado and the American West. He loves hearing from readers.

Review of Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe (audio version)

I’m reviewing the audio edition. I thought the blurb from this book would be interesting. There is not a lot written with middle aged couples I found that would be fun. This qualifies. This is a shorter story so I am pleasantly surprised how well the author makes you feel familiar with the main characters, Joe and Elaine. Not exactly bored but yet both wondering if there is something more, they start experimenting.

Their journey is so well told that I was unable to set the story aside. I felt they could be friends of mine. This is set up to be a multi experience story. I also appreciate the narrator. Elliott Daniels did a great job of bringing the story to life.
