Psychonautic (The Life and Death of Julian Frost) by Darren Frey

Photo from Amazon In the beginning, God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light, and it was good. As a legally blind author, born with a degenerative eye disease [Retinitis Pigmentosa], indeed, light is good. However, my light is fading. There was once, a long...

I was contacted by a representative with an opportunity to write an article to share my work. They were professional and accommodated my schedule. My article was promptly reviewed and published, creating an excellent opportunity to share my work with others.

I attended the L.A. Times Festival of Books at USC and paid $749 for marketing and exposure at the show. I was expecting an individual booth space to interact with potential buyers and publishers, but instead was one of 200 or so books crammed into an extremely small and uncomfortable space. I have tried to reach some resolution with Readers Magnet, but they have not responded to my inquiries.DO NOT purchase space through Readers Magnet at a book show!

When initially approached, I was excited for the opportunity to have Reader's Magnet represent my novel. The first problem became communication, as the individual handling my advertising was out of office almost from the start. After multiple weeks, I was assigned someone new, though I didn't notice an immense ammount of effort. I recieved no actual results, constantly had to correct advertising materials for the SAME errors, and overall I question if they actually did anything for me besides take my $750 and pocket it.If you are an author, you are better off doing the work yourself. For the money I paid Readers Magnet, I could have done quite a bit more on my own, with a higher-than-zero return on my investment.Supremely disappointed in the "services" I recieved.
