Some of her hobbies include sewing, quilting, silk ribbon embroidery, knitting, crocheting, jewelry making, flower arranging, tole painting. Gummeson’s main claim to fame is the creation of porcelain dolls and figurines from scratch. She has won a multitude of blue ribbons for first place and ‘best of the show’ in porcelain and ceramic shows.

In addition, she is passionate about writing especially in children’s literature. She always loved telling stories to the little ones. Hence, the book Lizzie and Leopold was formed from her imagination and storytelling to tell a good fantasy story. Gummeson was able to write many illustrated fantasy books for children such as Charlie’s Cukoo Little Choo-Choo; Cecil and Cedric, and the Crooked, Crickety Christmas Tree; Regis and Reggie; and Bonnie and Clyde. She has been a contributing writer to several trade publications concerning the industry she works in.

Lizzie and Leopold

This fantasy book published in 2018 is a 24-page book and good fantasy story that is fun, easy, and delightful to read. The simple narrative and incredible illustrations that children three years and above will love. Lizzie and Leopold is a story that acquaints young readers of the creatures that may be living in their backyard, may it be small or big. The book follows the life of Lizzie and Leopold. These two are tiny green lizards living in Grandma’s Secret Garden along with other friendly creatures. The two live under a log near a big oak tree. In the area, they have lots of friends, new and old ones. They will tell fun stories that will entertain young readers.

Every child has fantasies about fairies and dragons and everything in between. Children also have imaginary friends who stimulate their imaginations. Lizzie and Leopold are friends of mine and they spend a lot of time in my grandma’s secret garden, telling me about the neighborhood. They have introduced me to all their garden friends, and we have many conversations about their lives and what goes on in the garden.
