When ReadersMagnet contacted me, I had to stop and look it up. I have a background in Information Systems and Technology, so I wanted to know, is this legit or is someone trying to steal my twitter account. After a little research I can tell you that the physical location of the site appears to be in Singapore, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. I see the domain was registered 3 years ago, so odds are it’s not some out of the blue website. Most importantly to me, I couldn’t find it on any internet blacklists (lists that we IT folks use to help protect our networks). Then I looked for criticisms. Like all other Web sites, I was able to find cases of people complaining without presenting evidence to legitimize their complaints. I also found others praising the site and the company. So for me personally it seems that this is a business that is trying to help authors, while at the same time growing themselves and surviving as a business.  As such, I am prepared to take a risk with them and you should be as well. 

With that out of the way I want to say hello to everyone reading this and give my sincerest thanks to Readers Magnet for offering me this opportunity to talk a little about my book in their Author’s Lounge.

My self-published book “I should be dead…I think I died a little on the inside”, is a non-fiction book comprised of tales from my youth. When you read it, you will quickly realize that I was either very reckless, not very smart, or very lucky. Although all these things can apply, I see the truth that I had different expectations compared to the expectations of those around me. Expectations which gave me confidence to do what I did, which became the experiences which made me what I am today. I’ll give you an excerpt from my book.

“As I stood there, watching it, how tightly it was coiled, the old childhood rhyme came to mind and I could hear it being said. “Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candlestick. Well, I decided Jack might be tough enough to jump over a candlestick, but do you think he was brave enough to jump over a Rattlesnake?  I asked my friends, “Who wants to jump over it?”  They looked at me with confused faces. I said, “You know, like Jack, who jumped over the candlestick.”  

I’ll always remember the looks of my friends when I jumped over the Rattlesnake. I was 8 years old then. In addition to sharing these experiences, my main goal of writing this book was to learn how to self-publish. Who doesn’t want a publishing house, right? I would take one now, that’s my objective, but I’m not getting any younger, so we’re trying to achieve plan A while we engage plan B.  Where this publication was a learning tool for me, I want to do my best with my fictions that I have a passion for, So using this book as an educational experience, I did it all, everything I could, without any help, not even an editor, which brings me to saying, get yourself an editor, I have.

If you decide to give my book a read then I hope you can see that only we prevent ourselves from realizing our dreams. Remember, “Self-empowerment will take you as far as you dare to go.” ~ JRF Witty.. As soon as you realize you’re the product of your expectations, not your environment, you become unstoppable. The fortitude this will give you is invaluable.
